Brief

Richard wanted a patio that would last. We replaced the worn, tiered paving with 600 × 900 mm Earthcore porcelain slabs, a raised natural stone terrace and a charcoal grey composite balustrade, combining contemporary design with traditional stonework.

Constraints

The existing patio sat across several changing levels, and an old pond in the centre of the garden needed careful treatment. Both called for a substantial amount of MOT Type 1 to build up and level the area correctly.

Our solution

We built up and levelled the area with MOT Type 1 sub-base, compacted in 100 mm layers for a strong, stable and long-lasting foundation. The pond was properly filled and thoroughly compacted to minimise the risk of future settlement. We then laid the Earthcore porcelain, built the raised natural stone terrace with steps, and finished it with a charcoal grey composite balustrade.
